Race day hacks

  1. Use vaseline/Body Glide around the neck, wrists and ankles to get that wetsuit off seamlessly. Ensure you apply with gloves on, swimming vaseline on your hands will prevent a full catch of the water, minimal gains guys.

  2. Wetsuits.

    • Practice taking on and off

    • Practice swimming in one

    • Avoid wearing jewellery as they can tear and make holes in the wetsuits

    • Try different brands on to find the right fit

    • The wetsuit will be super tight and is meant to feel like a second skin.

  3. Suncream. Apply as soon as you get up and just before the event! I learnt the hard way and 34 degree swiss heat literally scorched my back.

  4. Mental preparation, visualisation, position affirmations, mentally prepare and focus on deep breathing.

  5. Say thank you to volunteers. The day couldn’t function without them, they will be there come sun or rain and they stand for hours making sure it’s a smooth event for you.
